Grand Geneva Resort and Spa
Just a short drive from Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison, the Grand Geneva Resort provides a convenient and exciting destination throughout the year. The resort sits on 3,500 acres of wooded, rolling terrain and boasts over 500,000 annuals on its magnificently manicured grounds. Whether it’s for golf, a business event or simply a weekend away from the city, the Grand Geneva Resort can meet all your needs.
The Links at Grand Geneva is comprised of The Highlands and The Brute courses, along with the practice areas, golf shop and Links Bar & Grill. Originally designed by Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye and redesigned by Bob Cupp and finally by Bob Lohmann in 2006, The Highlands is a Scottish style course that winds through wooded areas over rolling hills. It measures 5,011 yards from the forward tees up to 6,659 yards from the back tees. It is an enjoyable track that features solitude, spectacular countryside and resident wildlife. The Brute, once one of the longest courses in the country at over 7,300 yards, features generous fairways, lush rough and many exciting elevation changes. The massive greens, averaging over 8,000 sq. ft., are protected by the 68 oversized sand traps scattered throughout the course. The course measures 5,244 yards from the forward tees up to over 7,300 yards from the back tees.
The spacious golf shop features an extensive line of golf merchandise in both men’s and women’s styles. Connected to the golf shop is the Links Bar & Grill which serves breakfast and lunch into the late afternoon. It also is a great place to relax and have a drink after your round or while waiting during any weather delays. Locker rooms are provided so golfers can get cleaned up after their rounds.
A chipping area and large putting green are located in front of the golf shop. The relaxed atmosphere on the practice greens surrounded by the exciting buzz of golf carts and golfers arriving or departing create a unique feature. A driving range with multiple targets is located nearby.
Natural colors and shapes are utilized throughout the buildings at the Grand Geneva Resort. The wood and stone reflect a hint of the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture style. The Main Lodge blends well with the surroundings and is perched on a ridge overlooking The Brute course. Rooms located in buildings 4 and 5 offer the best unobstructed views of the course. The Lobby Lounge is a wonderful gathering area for groups and includes many seating and lounging options. The Grand Café, for casual meals, the Geneva Chophouse, for fine dining and the Ristorante Brissago, for Italian dishes, are centrally located within the Main Lodge.
Families are treated to water adventures at Moose Mountain Falls, located within the nearby Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark. The indoor/outdoor waterpark features 50,000 sq. ft. of slides, pools and lazy river areas. A trolley is available to shuttle guests around the entire resort.
The Sports Center, a 10,000 sq. ft. complex, houses The Well Spa and a host of fitness options, including indoor tennis courts, basketball court, climbing wall and pool. The Well Spa offers treatments based on the elements of air, fire, earth and water as they relate to the seasons, colors and emotions.
The Grand Geneva staff specializes in corporate events and meetings. More than 62,000 sq. ft. of function space is available to accommodate from 10 to 1,500 guests in style. The professional golf staff will organize your outing with style and precision ensuring that all event participants have a memorable experience. Within an easy drive from major metropolitan areas, The Grand Geneva is an excellent option for your next business function. Although each course presents unique challenges, both courses are fun and playable for any level of golfer. Options such as spa services, hiking, horseback riding and shopping in nearby historic Lake Geneva are great alternatives for non-golfers.
The Grand Geneva also features an airstrip if you care to fly directly to the resort. A ski and snowboard area, ski chalet and sleigh rides help make The Grand Geneva a year round destination.
What I liked about this resort – I liked that the grounds were very well groomed and that one of the premier American small town vacation destinations, Lake Geneva, is located within a few miles. Many shops and restaurants are available to compliment all the water activities available on the lake. Furthermore, The Brute course is an exciting track due to the lush grounds and sharp elevation changes. Skilled golfers, as well as those just beginning, should find The Brute a worthwhile and enjoyable course.
